Casa no Meco is a single-family house located in Aldeia do Meco, a small village on the Portuguese Atlantic Coast. The proposal was a simple building with a pitched roof that follows the village identity and the longitudinal shape of the lot. In the street facade the small openings ensure privacy and inside, the house gradually opens to its garden. The materials and construction solutions respect the local tradition and hark back to well known images of mediterranean villages. It is through a contemporary approach of subtraction that the undesirable surroundings are contoured and the privileged sun exposure is exploited.
