The Word Event is an experiment to create architecture using a single text as the only reference. Following a comprehensive exploration of the interplay between language, theater, and architecture — documented in a research booklet — Sarah Kane’s playscript “Psychosis 4.48” was chosen and served as both a linguistic and a spatial tool to initiate the design process. Ten steps of analysis and interpretation (scenes), employing diverse media like video, photography, painting, diagrams, models, and drawings, culminated in the project’s imprint on Gavdos island. The Word Event began as a manifestation of the words within a play to later embody the narratives evoked by its location.

We encourage designers and architects to share their best projects with the rest of the world so as to inspire the next generation and gain global recognition.
