「Recreating the Past」

This is a full renovation project of a new home for a young newlywed couple. They wanted the vibe of the entire space reflects the strong American-style aesthetic that they had enjoyed a lot in the past.
This project is located at an old building in Quarry Bay. Old building has the flexibility in terms of spatial arrangement. We took away the partitioning of the original kitchen and rearrange the entire space at the living area. We try to connect the living room and kitchen to make the entire space more spacious. Instead of leaving space for a dining area, we added a large island bar to the kitchen. The eye-catching island counter is not just able to serve as a dining space but also bringing more the interaction between the living area and the kitchen.

We have experimented with a wide range of materials and colors to further enhance the American-style aesthetic. We have applied herringbone-patterned engineered wood flooring, geometric-shaped tiles, black walnut veneers, vintage-style ceramic tiles, textured special paint, suede furniture, and unique glass pendant lights or etc, all of which are classic features of American style.

Successful design projects are always relied on a strong trust between the client and the designers. The trust in between being the key for bringing good ideas to life.
We were trying to create a practical and comfortable space that captured the rich American style. By selecting distinctive materials and carefully designing details, we hoped to evoke feelings of nostalgia and playfulness, at the same time, also bringing new surprises and delights to our clients’ new life together.
