The project is a residential new construction full-time forever home nestled high up in the hills of Northwest Reno, Nevada and overlooks the downtown city skyline and the Lake Tahoe Mountain range. Overall, the design is a mountain modern with ample natural light, warm woods, durable materials, and bold touches of glamour throughout. Maintaining these sweeping views was important as well as keeping the overall feel of the home light, full of life, sleek, and glamourous with hints of European modern inspiration. Even though they wanted a sleek modern home they still wanted it to feel like home, be cozy, inviting, and still feel luxurious not ordinary. The home was designed to live for everyday life for a young busy family with two dogs, but to also host and entertain all their family and friends. In the dining room is a custom 8-foot walnut dining table with metal accents designed by the principal interior designer that is a statement piece and helps to separate the open layout between the kitchen and great room spaces. Featured in the home are four bedrooms, four and a half bathrooms, an open concept kitchen, dining and great room, a large home office, separate laundry/craft room and mudroom, a golf simulator room, a gym, and another media room zone complete with fireplace, kitchenette, and wine room. The kitchen design was inspired by modern European styling, the large walk-in pantry features wrap around countertops with roll-out drawers, and open cabinets with adjustable shelving. The home office needed ample storage and needed to feel inviting and cozy, which was achieved with a large fireplace that features a built-in bench and floating shelves to display some of their fun movie and sports memorabilia. The powder bath needed to be a unique and glamourous space with a custom tile pattern utilizing two colored glass tiles, an integrated concrete sink, and a sparkly mica wallpaper was used as well to achieve the glam feeling. The laundry needed to incorporate a craft area and the mudroom needed to include a dog wash. Two of the other bathrooms were designed for their teenage daughter that wanted a grown-up glamourous space and the guest bathroom they wanted to be simple, but with a pop of glam with a shiny silver tile on the back wall of the shower to make it unique and interesting. The master bedroom and master bathroom were designed to be spaces that bring peace, tranquility, to re-balance and recenter the mind, body, and spirit at the end of a long day. The overall design was achieved with careful and thoughtful designing to create individual spaces that not only served their purpose but created the feelings the clients were seeking while still being an overall cohesive design in a large two-story home that feels like home.
