Along the South Tyrolean Wine Road in the southwest of the region stretches a picturesque landscape of vine-covered hills and small forests, one can admire original private villas built in recent years.
In the 1950s and 1960s, after the Second World War, many city dwellers moved from the city center drawn to these picturesque surroundings, attracted by the tranquillity, idyllic nature and an exclusive view of the surrounding peaks. This is the scenery in which Villa EB is set. The property is a two-family house created following a complex renovation of a pre-existing villa dating from the early 1960s.
The wish of the new owners was to create a place, in complete harmony with the shapes and colours of the surrounding landscape, such as the garden and the nearby woods, but above all, able to blend with the landscape without sacrificing modern lines and large windows that allow enjoying the view from different angles.
The result is a camouflage architecture, characterized by curved shapes, large windows, and materials echoing the colours of nature. The land’s natural slope hides the structure, which manifests itself only once you enter its forms. The most striking feature is the tiled roof, which rises slightly from the street level to wrap the coverage. The natural stone walls and exposed wood cladding combined the earth-coloured metal sheet cladding were chosen to generate a less invasive impact to the landscape, by emphasizes the earthy shades of the natural surrounded environment.
