-Bamboo Tensegrity Dome-
The design utilizes the Tensegrity Unit, arrayed and deformed to craft a Dome Pavilion. Positioned on a park slope, it mirrors the sky and bamboo shadows, offering visitors tranquility. The designer reinvents structures using bamboo, aiming to transcend traditional bamboo frames through Tensegrity inspiration. The Tensegrity Unit, featuring bamboo poles, steel cables, and Glass X-cube, exemplifies an interplay of space and bamboo craftsmanship. While one pole alone does not maintain balance, numerous poles and ropes achieve stability against time’s challenges.

-Universe as Tensegrity-
The universe operates on a principle of forced states, with every entity exerting attraction on others. It’s like a balanced tension net, where planets and beings are isolated points. Essentially, the universe can be likened to a Tensegrity. Similarly, Earth’s ecological network is a fabric where ecology, genes, and species intertwine, representing life’s intricate weave. They function like countless rods and ropes, sustaining each other in harmony. In this web, vitality endures, remaining robust against the tests of time.

-Parametric Efficiency-
The design uses parametric design, allowing swift adjustments through algorithms in construction form, node structure, and material specifications, facilitating bamboo steel processing. This method also helps determine wire rope lengths for field construction. A Tensegrity Unit features a 12-bar, 88-cable structure, ensuring multi-directional repeatability. During construction, AR technology ensures precision by comparing models with workpieces. Installation resembles assembling Lego, with clear instructions for workers. Only a vice, dovetail screws, and a hand drill are needed, enabling two people to easily assemble a unit.

-Starlit Dome Experience-
The suspended unit and the Glass X-cube hanging between them form a dreamlike dome-like net, wrapping the people underneath. The suspended structure and the brilliant twinkle of the stars attract every traveler. The sight-line pass through the Glass X-cube, and the flowers on the ground, the companions around them, the light and shadow of the dome and the sky are mixed, overlapping and finally interwoven through the Glass X-cube. Lean gently against the edge of the dome, and the silhouette of the whole dome, flowers and sky will sway gently with you.

-Eco-friendly Bamboo Steel Approach-
Using low-carbon bamboo steel not only lessens environmental impact but is also renewable and recyclable, optimizing bamboo usage, conserving forests, and cutting material production carbon emissions. Aided by parametric design and AR, ensures construction accuracy and efficiency, minimizing material waste. Tools employed have minimal energy consumption, resulting in low carbon emissions throughout the design and construction phases. The design’s analogy between the ecological network and tensegrity highlights the importance of local biodiversity.

We encourage designers and architects to share their best projects with the rest of the world so as to inspire the next generation and gain global recognition.
