Tres Perros is an open restaurant located in the center of San José, in front of La Sabana Metropolitan Park, becoming a terrace option for residents in the area. The site features a large tree, which we consider a sacred natural element. The design adapts to the contour of the tree, situated in a central garden conceived for contemplation and experiencing nature. The project’s concept is centered around creating a new space in the heart of San José as an open terrace immersed in gardens and vegetable gardens where the boundaries are defined by plants and existing brick walls. The project was designed during the pandemic, aiming to create an open restaurant that allows for social distancing in a healthy space that grows around the tree. It encourages opportunities for socializing in naturally open and ventilated spaces. The color palette of the project is natural, using browns, blacks, grays, and oxides, inspired from nature. The main materials include exposed concrete, black steel, wood, and plants. The project involved the development of hanging rattan art displayed on top of the bar, crafted by local artisans and sculptors. Similarly, the furniture was manufactured in collaboration with local furniture producers.
